What are classes like?
Classes are all of an
hour and a half to make the most of them. In general, they are
individual lessons but, given the necessary conditions, groups might
be made.
Classes are planned according to students’ needs, personal
characteristics, background and objectives but, basically, they are
always focused on communication.
Most important of all, the student should achieve communicative
competence. He should be able to understand and be understood.
Classes aim at this objective: to be able to get one’s message
across sucessfully and to understand both written and spoken Spanish
from Río de La Plata –one of the five varieties spoken in Argentina.
A typical session is divided in two classes a week. Each class
starts with a warm-up activity to get gradually into that day’s work
and somewhat introduce the topic of the class. There are a number of
other reasons why this warm-up is always present in every class.
Some of these reasons are: to teach a new word, an expression, a
special structure or cultural issues. It’s also a good opportunity
to correct that error the student doesn’t seem to be able to
correct.
