What is ELE and ELS?
ELE means
Español como Lengua Extranjera. For most prospective students
Spanish would be a foreign language to learn as they do not reside
in Argentina or in any other Spanish-speaking country. In this case,
they would be studying ELE. However, if a student is a resident,
then Spanish would be his second language and he would be studying
ELS, that is Español como Lengua Segunda.
What is CELU?
CELU stands
for Certificado de Español Lengua y Uso. In other words, it’s
an Argentine examination of oral and written competence in Spanish
as a foreign language. The Spanish evaluated is standard –no matter
the variety the student has learnt.
It is an oficial examination –accredited by the Ministry of
Education, Science and Technology- given in different cities in
Argentina and Brazil. It is administered by a group of universities
from Argentina, which include the University of Buenos Aires (UBA),
the University of Córdoba (UNC) and the University of the Litoral (UNL).
You can make the most of your language course and your stay in
Buenos Aires by studying for CELU. If interested, you can be
prepared for this examination and obtain a certificate of competence
in Spanish language from one of the most prestigious universities in
the world: the University of Buenos Aires (UBA).
